Current totals for money raised during Balding for Dollars: $12,388.40!. Keep your eyes peeled for the official total (and photos!) coming soon!
Thank you for all your support!

Balding for Dollars SFU - Friday, February 15, 2008
Hosted by Club for the Cure, the Student Marketing Association (SMA), and Chatters Hair Salon Lougheed

Purpose:
(a)To raise community awareness for childhood cancer and blood disorders
(b) To fundraise to support the oncology program at BC Children’s Hospital, which supports children and their families during and after treatment.

What:
One-day event, where people gather pledges and in return shave their head in support. We raised over $8000 last year and had close to 40 shavees! Let's try to beat that this year!

What can I do to help?
Your support of this event will significantly enhance the quality of life, care and support provided to children with cancer during more than 6,500 in and out-patient visits to BC Children’s Hospital each year. We challenge you to raise pledges either to shave your head, cut/donate your hair or wax a body part in support of this cause. If not, come out to watch, as there’d be lots of entertainment and food!

Pledge our team online.

While changing servers, our website accidentally got deleted, and while I had it saved on my computer, it was an outdated version. So now, I'm going to redo our updates (i.e. activities) although they won't be written as well as they were before, now that my memory of those events has dimmed. Clubs Days will take place the coming Tuesday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday Jan. 17 in the North AQ. Come sign up!
We also have some good news: Kyle forged a relationship with our sister club, the Anti-Cancer Team, in the American University of Cairo, and we will be working together and sharing ideas!

November 9th, 2006-=>
EGGOfest Waffle Sale @ Convo Mall - Thursday, November 16th. 8am-12pm. $1 for two waffles (we'll give you syrup and butter) and $1 for two toppings. Toppings include bananas, whipped cream, nutella, and more! Drinks will be hot chocolate and orange juice, $0.50 each. All proceeds to BC Cancer Foundation.

October 14th, 2006-=>
A recap for the CIBC Run for the Cure was added to the Activities section. Congrats to Colin McInnes for his 15th place overall finish!
The member list and activity list has also been updated.

September 7th, 2006-=>
More photos up for bowling night, and also new recap/photos added for Cancer Trivia for Free Candy event!

September 4th, 2006-=>
It's that time again.. yup! Another school year is about to start.. and what does that mean for us? It means we'll be stronger than ever! Check out the activities page for recaps and photos from last semester's events, as well as upcoming events for the Fall!

May 7th, 2006-=>
Ah, another semester has come and gone...but not without raising $515!! Good job guys! I've posted recaps and pictures on our activities page. Clubs Days is coming up...I'll be e-mailing out the schedule sign-up soon.

February 18th, 2006-=>
The BC Cancer Foundation sent us a letter to thank us for our efforts (read it here), and also a certificate of appreciation

February 11th, 2006-=>
Here is the long awaited update to the site. New members have been added, executives have been updated, and activities have been updated as well. We now have a listing of Committees available to join under our Activities section.

January 1st, 2006-=>
Happy New Year to all!
1)The BC Cancer Agency tour went off without a hitch, and all who took part were impressed with the amount of information they got out of it. A recap is now up in our Activities section.
2) For those of you still awaiting parking reimbursements for the Cancer Conference at the Westin Bayshore, those should be coming soon.
3)We officially donated $476.81 to the BC Cancer Foundation for this semester!! WOOOOO! Good job guys! An additional $150 went to the Canadian Cancer Society too! Pretty good for a semester with no major events.

November 20th, 2005-=>
I have just updated the activities page with new recaps and photos. This will probably be the last update of the semester. Another successful semester has gone, and another one is coming soon.

October 22nd, 2005-=>
Our advertiser has pulled out from advertising on our site, which is a huge blow to us, because that's about $450 per year lost for cancer research. However, not to despair, we will find new innovative methods to raise funds. Upcoming events: Thursday, October 27th; Friday, October 28th; Monday, October 31st, we will be selling wristbands for the Canadian Cancer Society, pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness, cookies and Halloween candy in the AQ in front of B9200. Then Nov. 3-5, we will be sending a delegation to BC Cancer Agency's Annual Cancer Conference at the Westin Bayshore.

October 9th, 2005-=>
The recaps for the Annual General Madness Carnival and the CIBC Run for the Cure are now up. Check out the activities page for more details.

September 24th, 2005-=>
Both Clubs Days and Terry Fox Day were huge successes! We have more than doubled our membership, now having close to 150 members. Check out the activities page for more details. Our membership and executive list have now been updated. Elections went well, with all former execs being re-elected, and two new members winning their election races. Congrats Kyle, George, Lisa, Lorraine, Nick, Cesar, Maria, Sarah, and Joanne for winning.

August 27th, 2005-=>
You may have already noticed, but now there are ads at the bottom of our website. This generates $30 USD per month for our cancer-fighting cause. Yes, Kyle managed to solicit advertisers on the site. That makes $360 USD per year extra revenue. Is that great or what? Besides that, the summer semester has been kind of dead, but oh well..that's how it is with most clubs. I think we should all thank George for stepping in as temporary president this summer. He did a fine job. The site has just been updated--past activities, upcoming activities, questions regarding membership fees, members lists, member profiles. I think we are now ready to take on another exciting year of fighting cancer! Clubs Days are coming up on Tues, Sept. 13 and Wed, Sept. 14. Make sure you sign up for a time to watch our table!

May 14th, 2005-=>
Kyle will be away 95% of this summer, so George has been left in charge of presidential duties. If you have any questions, continue to e-mail thecure@sfu.ca and either George or Kyle will give you a response.
As for Clubs Days, we did a spendid job, signing up a page full of new members despite the fact that Summer semester is usually dead for many clubs.
Finally, I encourage you all to sign up as volunteers for the Relay for Life (in your community) and the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. Kyle wishes you all good luck while he's gone!

April 23rd, 2005-=>
Now that the semester's over, I finally have some time to update the site. Recaps and photos for all our events are now up on our activities page. We're going to be quite active this Summer, even though many members will not be here. We will be at Clubs Days on Wednesday, May 11 at table 16. New events will be revealed in subsequent updates.

March 6th, 2005-=>
OK, I really haven't had time to update the site.. All pictures and updated fundraising amounts, etc. will be up by the Summer semester, I promise. As for now, be sure to check out the Beat Cancer Benefit at Convo Mall on the 23rd, with a Beat Cancer Club Night on the 24th at The Cellar. See you there!

January 15th, 2005-=>
So here is the long awaited, Club for the Cure website!! This is the site I have blamed on hindering much progress in club events during first semester, so if this site doesn't live up to its billing, then maybe the lack of events was my fault (OK fine, it is my fault). Marcus did the excellent design (much thanks!), and I did the stuff you don't see (SSI). Well, I did the text as well. The two of us will be co-webmasters as we will keep things updated in regards to both information and graphics. Future meetings will be held on the website forum. More info to come.

As for news, Clubs Days will be Tuesday, Jan. 18 and Wednesday, Jan 19. Our club table will be located in the north concourse of the AQ by Images Theatre. PLEASE stop by to sign up (yes, even for existing members) for the club. There will also be a club meeting on Tuesday, Jan 18 at 12:30 PM at the club table regarding our event on Valentines Day when people will be generous for their significant others and provide us an excellent opportunity to extort their money for our cause.

We can offer advertisement for a small monthly sponsorship fee, and we have successfully done so in the past. Our Google Page Rank can boost yours to increase your search rankings--thereby increasing your traffic!
